Berkeley County, WV first Children’s Garden opened in the summer of 2016. This unique facility is nestled within Ambrose Park in Martinsburg, WV and serves as an outdoor learning center for children ages 2-11 years. The garden provides an outdoor, hands-on setting where children can be active while they explore, observe and experiment. It features a Hobbit House, Look-Out Tower, ABC
Garden & Reading Nook, Tiny Tots Exploration Area, Drip Drop Water Zone Butterfly Garden, Dinosaur Dig, Nest Niche, Zippity Zip Line, Tune Town & My Free Library for children to explore (with parental supervision). The Garden would not exist today without the vision of local resident and retired school teacher, Sue Ann Palmer and the Gateway Garden Club. This facility was made possible with numerous donors to include private family sponsorships, contributions from the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation, business sponsors, grants and volunteers.
Combined with public hour visitors, field trips, reservations, mini-camps and special activities, the Children’s Garden is visited by hundreds of children each season. We hope to continue to “grow” and share this wonderful outdoor education facility with our community.
