Overview
WHAT IS LACROSSE?
An exhilarating sport, lacrosse is fast-paced and full of action that combines stick skills with running, passing, and shooting. The object of the game it to put a 5 oz. hard rubber ball into your opponents net, while keeping your opponent from doing the same to you.
WHO CAN PLAY?
New players are welcome! Our coaches and more experienced players are dedicated to helping you and your child, starting at any level of play, to learn the game and HAVE FUN. So, come out and give lacrosse a try!
WHAT TEAM SHOULD I REGISTER FOR?
We offer four grade-based teams; players are required to play within these grade groups so as to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade
- 3rd & 4th Grade
- 5th & 6th Grade
- 7th & 8th Grade
WHERE DO WE PLAY?
Home games are played at Poor House Farm Park and away games are typically no more than one and half hours away. Away games are played in these cities within Maryland: Boonsboro, Brunswick, Damascus, Frederick, Hagerstown, Middletown, Olney, Poolsville, Smithsburg, Walkersville and Urbana. Additional games may be scheduled within Virginia and West Virginia.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM EQUIPMENT REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE?
Lacrosse helmet, mouth guard, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, cleats, athletic supporter/cup, boys lacrosse stick
HOW DOES THE SEASON RUN?
The season begins with practice starting in March and expect to practice two to three days per week. Games are played primarily on Saturdays. The 5th/6th and 7th & 8th grade teams can also expect to play a couple of weeknight games later in the season.
HOW LONG ARE GAMES?
Games last about 1 to 1-1/2 hours. There are four quarters that vary in length depending on grade level. There is a half-time and short breaks between quarters.

- Registration deadline: Monday, January 22, 2024 (5:00pm in office or 11:59pm online)
- $140 per new player or $100 per returning player (add'l fee will apply if new jerseys are needed)
- Note: This league is against other Parks & Recreation teams in Western Maryland, so travel to games is required. Home games are typically played at Poor House Farm Park. Away games will be held on Saturdays in Maryland (usually along the I-70 corridor). Transportation for all games is the parent's responsibility; Participants must register with the US Lacrosse ($30 fee). See registration for details.
