Our Administrative Office at the Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center (Lambert Park) is once again open to the public for normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm). Per Governor Justice, starting on 7/7/20 masks will be required to enter our facility until further notice. Please practice social distancing by only one person/family inside at the desk at a time. If you are not comfortable coming inside, you may utilize our drop box just outside the door. Simply call our office at 304-264-4842 to let us know you are making a payment and what it is for. You can still reach us by phone or at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to keep you and our staff safe during this time.
As guidance and information comes from the Governor’s office as well as the Berkeley County Health Department, we are evaluating all of our facilities and programs to make proper and safe decisions on how to reopen. Details: War Memorial Pool reopened for daily public hours starting Saturday, June 13th; The ability to book a Private Pool Party is currently underway; The miniature golf course and concession stand at War Memorial Park have also reopened. Swim lessons are available for July/August; Some camps for summer are open and we are planning for our fall leagues and programs (see our Forms page for details on what is currently being offered). At this time, gymnastics (classes and open gyms), all fitness classes, morning gym walkers, pickleball and Tae Kwon Do are still suspended until further notice. We will continue to monitor the regulations and discuss options with the health department. Please watch our website and social media pages for updates.
Pavilions reopened for use as of June 1st and the most recent gathering number as of this post is 100 people or less (and these numbers are also based on the pavilion being rented. Pavilions with a 40 person capacity remain at their usual 40 people limit). If you rent a pavilion, please bring Clorox wipes (or the like) to clean the tables and seats. Due to limited staff, we are unable to guarantee the tables will be disinfected before your arrival. See additional information below.
**Update: As of June 16, 2020 ALL playgrounds, basketball courts and restrooms have reopened! The water fountains and volleyball courts are still not available. Please be aware that we will be doing our best to clean and sanitize the playground equipment, however, we are strongly recommending that visitors wash their hands and/or use hand sanitizer before and after using equipment.
**Oak Street Park remains CLOSED due to construction on the new restroom facility and the restroom near the pavilion at Ambrose Park is closed with the exception of during pavilion rentals. The restroom at the other end of the park, near the new playground has reopened.**
